FAQ
HOW LONG DOES THERAPY LAST?
Therapy can last anywhere from a few sessions to several months, or even a few years, depending on individual needs, wishes and circumstances. A number of factors can impact the length and efficacy of a treatment, such as the level of motivation, engagement and commitment; as well as the quality of the relationship developed with the therapist, and the support received from family and friends.
IS ONLINE THERAPY AS GOOD AS SEEING A THERAPIST IN PERSON?
As Heleen Riper, professor of E-Mental Health and Clinical Psychology at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam stated: "There is ample clinical evidence that videoconferencing therapy is as good as face-to-face treatment". Indeed, treatment outcomes and client satisfaction have been found to be equivalent for both in a number of research studies, with the exception of a few conditions that may require medical treatment as part of the intervention (such as medication, or inpatient support for substance use disorder). Moreover, online therapy allows you to attend sessions from home, work, or even while traveling: providing greater accessibility, convenience, and flexibility in your schedule.
HOW DO I KNOW IF MINDFULNESS AND RELAXATION TECHNIQUES ARE A GOOD FIT FOR ME?
While Mindfulness and relaxation techniques are popular strategies for decreasing stress and regulating emotions, they are not necessarily a good fit for everyone; indeed, they can result in very different experiences and outcomes, depending on multiple factors (such as having a trauma history or suffering from cardiovascular diseases). Nevertheless, by means of a trauma-informed individualized approach, it is possible to identify the strategies that work best for each individual and apply modifications that can make such practices even more feasible.
WHAT IS PSYCHEDELIC INTEGRATION AND WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
The potential range and depth of insight and change that a psychedelic journey can induce may yield a cathartic and metamorphic level of transformation, yet getting there is not as simple as swallowing a pill. Indeed, psychedelic experiences create a powerful window of opportunity for individuals to explore new perspectives, but they also tend to entail such deep shifts in perception, that time and guidance are recommended to fully understand and assimilate them into our daily lives. Integration sessions can guide toward clarity, entirety, and a sense of closure, by shedding light on how what has been experienced relates to one's life and everyday existence; as well as sustaining personal growth, self-awareness, and the positive changes that might have been elicited by the journey, in a meaningful way.
